Trained to Teach

One of the nation's largest resources on how to 'fix' public education is the huge number of retired teachers whose years in the classroom spanned the decades between the good old days when the USA education system was one of the finest in the world and these nightmare days when entire schools are being shut down and all the teachers fired for non-performance.

Twentieth Century teachers fall into two basic categories: those trained before the 70's and those trained after. What is the basic difference between the two groups? Their training - pre-70's were trained to focus on subject matter; post-70's were not.

These retired teachers may be the only people in the country who can tell us what has gone wrong in our schools.

This is an invitation and a plea for feedback from these experienced, knowledgable, and here-to-fore silenced teachers.
